Talent Show!
The Artsco talent show was a huge success! I think that the show went very well and now that it's over I can finally breathe a huge breath of relief. The show ran for about three hours with a ten minute intermission and everyone seemed very pleased with the turn out. We raised almost 100,000 from selling tickets. The raised money will go to the artsco account

Organizing the Talent Show
This October, Artsco has been working towards organizing the high school talent show. So far we have held three auditions and are having a dress rehearsal on Wednesday for the show. This has been very stressful to do since there is so much work and planning that goes into organizing such a big event. The show will last around two hours and hopefully it will run smoothly without any complications :)
FINAL REFLECTION:
Our objectives for this project was to organize ISK's high school talent show. It was a great success as we raised over 100,000 shillings! I was very pleased with the outcome of the show as it was a very stressful process. However all presidents of the talent show overcame this stress by working together :) This event definitely improved my event organizing skills and this could be handy in the future.

Second Kibera Mural

We went back to the SODAS foundation to paint another mural inside their compound. This time Artsco decided to symbolize how drug addicts can evolve and break free by getting clean. We used a butterfly hatching from a cocoon idea as a metaphor to symbolize the general idea. Our plan was to make this mural happy and bright to symbolize how change is a good thing. This experience was fun and I think everyone had a good time. We are very pleased with how this mural turned out and would love to be part of another service project like this again.

Kibera Mural Painting!

One of our first Artsco projects was a mural for an organization called SODAS (Save Our Daughters and Sons.) The organization is located in Kibera slums and we were asked to create a mural that raised awareness about drugs and HIV aids. Our idea for the actual mural was based on the idea of good and bad people. The bad people portrayed in the mural were all drug addicts and were colored in grey and black while the good people were all well off people that were painted in colorful colors. The main theme of the mural was that those who don't do drugs achieve more in life and are more successful. Overall this was a fun activity and it was great to see all the Artsco members participating and helping out. I think that the mural turned out to be well done and that this project was a good idea!

PTO Picnic!

At the ISK PTO family picnic Artsco had a very productive table where we sold tye dyed t-shirts and offered face painting/hair braiding. At this event I helped out with the tye dying of shirts and supervised all activities from ten in the morning to around three in the afternoon. This event was very fun and I was proud that it turned out to be such an organized event. Everybody in Artsco came through and all heads of the organization were very pleased. It was such a fun day! In total we raised 12,000 shillings that will be used for future service projects and Artsco supplies.
Our objectives were to raise money for future service project and Artsco supplies. We managed to raise 12,000 shillings overall which I think was a final income for the day. It was very hard to get people attracted to our booth but we overcame this by allowing people to advertise around the picnic with signs etc.. I thought this activity was great fun as it allowed us to work with Artsco members outside of school hours.

Arstsco Bake Sale
Today we had a bake sale to raise funding money for Artsco. Overall I think we made over 10,000 since almost ever member brought baked goods and almost all of it was sold to students. It was such a good turn out and it has left me excited for the rest of the year! I am beginning to think that Artsco is a great group!
FINAL REFLECTION:
We held a bake sale to earn some money for ARTSCO. Our general objective was to raise around 5,000 shillings but we made at least 10,000 shillings. We held the bake sale at activity and it was a rather easy process since tons of ARTSCO members helped out.

Arstco.
In my senior year, I am co head of Arstco, an arts club at our school that raises awareness about the arts (Drama, Art, Music.) There are around 25 members in the club, therfore it is rather big. Together we are working to increase the attendance at events at ISK that are more arts related. So far we have worked on a mural painting in Kibera slums, organized the talent show, and have done some fundraising for our club at the PTO family picnic in September. Being a part of this club, has taught me how to become a more mature and responsible individual since I am partly in charge of pulling everything together and making things work for the club.
FINAL REFLECTION:
When I became head of ARTSCO my original objectives were to create an organized club that participated in several activities that were connected to the arts (drama, art, music.) I am very pleased with how this club has turned out as we have organized several service trips, and fundraising events. We have also volunteered at several art related events such as Macbeth and the Fringe Festival. I encountered several difficulties in the beginning as it is not hard to run a club when you are a twelve grade student. I thought this club was very time consuming however I got used to having so much responsibility and got a lot of help from my co president Christopher Ewell. I enjoyed being head of this club and can only hope that the next's years presidents continue to take ARTSCO seriously and help the community. I learnt how to be a team leader which will definitely be handy in the future after I graduate.

Volleyball.
Image above: Last school year's varsity team. This August/September, I made the volleyball varsity team leading up to ISSEA. In this team I practice my volleyball three-four times a week. This is such a fun experience, and I cant wait to find out who made the team that gets to go to South Africa! Last year I was on the volleyball varsity team and I have learned to appreciate the sport.
FINAL REFLECTION:
When joined the Volleyball team my objectives were to participate in a sport more than once a week. This objective was made personally so I could get the chance to get back in shape after summer vacation. I was a part of the varsity team where I was played middle position. I practiced at least three times a week with my team which payed off and allowed me to improve my athletic shape while working on my team skills. Therfore I think I was successful in reaching my objectives. I had a great time playing at team practice/games and I definitely improved my team skills which will help me in the future, hopefully when I am in university.
